Bell Christmas Wreath Craft
Making a Bell Wreath
The sound of jingle bells during the Christmas season can
be music to our ears. Having your preschoolers help you make a wreath of
sleigh bells to hang on your classroom door may be just the perfect project to
bring that simple sound to life.
Making a sleigh bell wreath is easy. You will need a
metal wreath form, some greenery, and sleigh bells of different shapes and
sizes. You might also want to add a few bows here and there to liven the
wreath up a little bit.
Start some of the children wrapping the wreath. Use the
greenery and show them how to twirl it around the wire frame. Have them take
turns so everyone gets a chance to work with the wreath.
While some of the children are wrapping the wreath let
the other children string the bells so to speak. Have them take a heavy-duty
string that has been cut into about 2 in lengths. Show them how to place it
through the sleigh bell at the top.
Now show them how to tie the bells to the wreath. Some
of the children may know how to tie a knot if they do assign them that task.
If not you can do it once they have the perfect spot for their bell. Have
enough bells for each child to place one on the wreath.
If the children would like to liven their wreath up a
little have them tie a few bows onto the wreath. This will give it some color
and charm. Use different colored bows and have part of the children attach
bells and the other part attach the bows.
Once the wreath is completed hang it on the classroom
door. Everyone will hear the sleigh bells ringing each time the door is
opened or shut. Then when the Christmas season is over place it on the wall
in the classroom so the children will remember how much fun they had making it
and listening to it over the holidays.
